Subway Cave

Subway Cave is one of the biggest sections of lava tubes in Lassen. There are two different entrances and it takes about 15 minutes to get through the whole thing. After you get past the curve, it is pitch black. And I mean pitch black! It was a little scary at first until you get used to it. I still felt like something was going to jump out at us. The whole thing was about 10ft tall and twice that across, so it was nice and open, but the floor was very bumpy and uneven. We didn't have a flashlight on us, so we used my phone's. It worked. It was crazy to think that hot lava made these lava tubes! It was so cool to be in there and walk through them.
