Camping on the Coast

Camping on the Coast

Aaron had four days off in a row! That was a first, so we we decided to make the trip up the coast and go camping. We tried to get Patrick's Point, which is a state campground that overlooks the ocean, but I guess people make reservations months in advance so we didn't get one. Maybe next time we will know in advance when we are going camping. After sitting through hours of one way lane construction we were ready to find a place to put our tent. Fortunately, there were a few different options. We took the one closest to Patrick's Point.

Our camp spot was beautiful, but it was pretty close to the freeway, so we heard a lot of traffic. There were so many trees, and it was soooooo green. My parents gave us the most awesome tent. You can stand up inside of it and it could probably fit 8 people in it. Gracie's favorite part was the hammock. She cried and cried when we pried her away to take her to the beach. I'm sure our neighbors were really excited to see that. They didn't need to worry. As soon as we got home we had dinner and she was out like a light. She is a really good camp sleeper.

Aaron made us grilled cheese and vegetable soup for dinner.

As soon as we got a fire going we had smores, but I forgot how much Sadie hates fire. We didn't even see her take off, but we looked for her about ten minutes. She was begging food off of our neighbors in their camp. She is getting too old to hear us when we call-or she is getting too old that she thinks it's ok to ignore us. Little stinker. She really had us worried.

Pancakes, eggs, and sausage for breakfast. Too bad we forgot butter, salt/pepper, and syrup!!!

A banana slug that Grace thought was so cute and wanted to give kisses. They were all over camp.

On our way home we went fishing in the Trinity river and the dogs ran around some more.
