Portage Glacier

Portage Glacier

For real this time! We actually made it. It took us about four hours of skiing to make it but the view was worth it! Plus we got to enjoy the 40 degree weather and I got five shades darker. It was pretty awesome. Other than our balcony window (where I totally strip down to nothing and lay out while the sun is around) spring skiing is the only suntanning we can do without freezing our booties off. Aaron was making fun of me for stripping off my pants half way through the lake, but my friend Amiee went the next day and she took off her top so she could get some sun on her back. lol. At least I'm not there yet! Thank goodness you can see for miles around, and she did put her top back on when she could see someone coming.

About half way across and no one around for miles. We def. can no longer see the car. It's so funny because from the car it looks like an easy walk out there. Once you get started it looks like you haven't gone anywhere. Boo to optical illusions!

Awwweee...made it! It's so pretty and cool and soooooo blue!

This one shows how big it really is. We were skiing over big cracks and huge ice chunks to get closer. That should have warned us...we even could see where it had broke through to the cold water from the lake...that also should have warned us not to go closer...but Aaron really really wanted to touch it....so we got closer and closer. And then it started calving and growling and we decided we got close enough and Aaron settled for touching this glacier instead. lol. It did come off of the big one a couple of days ago.

No apple ever tasted so good. Aaron is really good at taking blackmail photos.

 Super fun ski day!

Portage

Portage

We've been out to Portage twice in the last week or so, the first time we walked around the trails and the second time cross country skied across the lake (actually we tried-we were out for two hours and still didn't make it across the lake). It's so nice to have that wonderful warm sun around. By the end of it we were sweating like crazy and both got a little sunburned.

First trip

These are from the second trip, it was so beautiful out!

I love taking pictures, and I Instagram my favorites. It's so fun! Aaron is loving his new camera and we attempt to go somewhere to use it a couple times a week. Sometimes I have to lure him out of the house with magical words (since stomping your foot and yelling "I hate that videogame" doesn't work real good) about sunlight, waterfalls, and I usually mention unicorns-not that we've seen one yet-still hoping. :) He's gotten pretty good at somethings and needs more work on others.
These were taken in Old Girdwood
